Plum Tree Popcorn
Popcorn is popping on the plum tree in the front yard - and on every other tree in the neighborhood. Everything about spring fills me with joy, but the Magnolia Tulip Tree the most of all. Growing up, I would walk past a Tulip Tree every day coming home from the bus stop. And every day of spring I would pick a large blossom off the tree and pull the petals off one at a time..."He loves me, He loves me not, He loves me, He loves me not..." until all of the petals were gone. I didn't even have a "He," but I did it religiously. I never understood where this little rhyme came from or how love could be so simple. I know now it isn't--but it is lovely, like Spring.
I just learned that the original expression in French is: "Il m'aime un peu, beaucoup, passionnément, à la folie, pas du tout" or "He loves me a little, a lot, passionately, madly, not at all." It makes me feel a little bit better to know that its complicated for other people too - at least for the original rhymer, whomever that is.

We woke up to an inch of snow covering the city - oh where is Spring....
I was always too embarrassed to do "he loves me, he loves me not" just in case a "he" did love me - scary.
My favorite spring blossom is from my apple tree when I was a little girl. The apple tree blossom is the most aromatic, that I have ever smelled?, smelt? did smell?...oh well....whatever....I spent forever up in that tree.
Such a pretty pic--did you take it? Carly plays this game all the time and she always changes it to "loves me" even when it's "loves me not." I think she's on to something.
My friend and I would gather hand fulls of flower petals, throw them in the air and shout, "it's my wedding day!!!" I can remember doing this over and over again.
Girls!
Spring is my favorite season for so many reasons...I can't get enough of the blossoming trees. I love your photo, Ang.

Leave it to the French to complicate things! Oh, I want Spring but alas, the only blossoms to enjoy in Boston are the florist, table-top variety.
Life in a tree is blissful as it was meant to be. I fondly recall my haven at the top of the tree in my childhood backyard...the sites the smells the privacy the ...
