Oh, Boy!

My sister, Emily, had a baby!

Weston Joshua
(isn't he as cute as can be stretched out, lying in the sun)
Congrats, Mimi and Josh!

So, here's my thought: I am officially an Aunt now...or an Auntie or another nickname of sorts, and I am very new to this. And I am wondering what it is an Aunt does...any thoughts? I know this much, I've got to get out to see him soon!

well, here's what i know about being an auntie: when it is your actual blood sister's baby, he might confuse you for her, meaning you probably hold babies the same way and feel about the same as she does. and therefore, he will love you, and therefore, you will be totally smitten with him. the only babies i love even close to as much as i love my own are my dear sister's. so congratulations, auntie! it's the best.

Oh Angela I knew you would probably be the first to post the new nephew (great)picture. Thank you, he is beautiful as well as your boys are beautiful. As an Aunt I found you should be interested and love them unconditionally. Somehow I think being an Aunt is much easier than being a parent. But who am I to know.

What an adorable little man and cute, cute name! I am not an aunt (as of yet) so no advice can be given, but I am sure you will pass with flying colors!!! Tell your sis congrats (and congrats to you, Miss Auntie, as well)!

Congrats!! I was lucky enough to spend some time holding little Weston today, and he is SO perfect! I was worried when I became an uncle last year, but all you need is love, and I know that you're good at that. You will be a wonderful Aunt to this little guy. Love you!

Congrats!! I have 14 nieces and nephews and 2 on the way, and I like to spoil them with sugar, presents and lots of phone calls since I live by only a few of them. I had an amazing aunt who did (and still does) the same for me, so I am just carrying on the tradition. I already know you will be the cool aunt that everyone wants to hang out with when you go on vacation together.

Oh, hooray! I am so happy for Emily and the rest of the fam. Being an Aunt is the best--all you have to do is spoil him! It's like pre-grandma training. No disciplining, no being the tough guy, you just get to be the fun one!

Spoil him rotten! I was an aunt for many years before having my own. I still enjoy spending time with them and now they do fun things for my kids who are so much young than they!
CONGRATS!!

Just spoil them, whisper silliness in their ears, and give them candy when they are in trouble - an aunt is a great lady to be! Don't forget to let James and Chase know that cousin power can be as mighty as sibling strength and just as fun.

So I don't know much about being a mother (which is why I'm constantly asking you questions), but I am the favorite aunt to 12 adorable nieces and nephews. I think as an aunt you have a lot more wiggle room than parents do. You never have to worry about teaching them responsibility or respect for others or any of those hard things...you just get to lay the fun on thick and with no reservations. I think my favorite thing to do with my nieces and nephews is to show them how excited I am to see them whenever we get together. Kids don't see adults get truly giddy over their presence very often and it makes them beam. It's something I try to do with VIv each time I get her out of her crib from a nap. You do such a good job making your own kids feel important that doing it for a niece or nephew will be a breeze for you. Only with them, you don't have to worry about simultaneously teaching them not to steal, push, or hit :)
