Star Sighting

I went to lunch with Emily Berg (Kane) today. We were sitting outside at Pluto's and who should walk past but - Jerry Rice. He was wearing his superbowl ring around his neck and talking on his cell phone without a care in the world. For anyone who grew up in NorCal - it doesn't get any better than this!

Anyhow, it got me thinking about my favorite accidental star sightings...

  • Lucy Lu was eating a hotdog in SoHo - and I almost walked up to her because I thought she was a friend from high school
  • Ashley Judd told me how cute baby James was in Central Park (this was awhile ago)
  • Ethan Hawke was walking from Chelsea Piers with his son on his shoulders
  • Toby McGuire and Kirsten Dunst were filming Spider Man outside 10 Liberty for a week - I didn't see her, but I saw him
  • Freddy Prinze and I watched the same movie over in Battery Park City
  • Michael J Fox (Alex P Keaton) was at a birthday party for a mutual friend
  • Ryan and Trista - you know, from the Bachlorette
  • Bobby Flay was jogging - I wish he was cooking
  • Sean Penn and Tim McGraw trump all of mine - Emily Berg wins...or do you?

What are some of your best run-ins?

I never have good sitings because I never pay attention!

My best time-quality siting is Josh Hartnett. I was at a play opening party with him and like twenty other people for an hour. He was probably the only person in the room I didn't talk to. I am celebrity-phobic.

My best awesome person siting is George Clooney. He was filming on our block for a week and we kept walking by again and again hoping to see him outside his trailer. We got a couple good gawks, but no number swapping :(

ben affleck and jennifer garner at the post ranch inn in big sur. we saw them several times, at breakfast, walking on the grounds of the inn, where they said a quiet hi to us. it was before they were pregnant or married, and he totally checked me out. :)
also, i met and hugged jared leto (it's somewhere on my blog, search "jared"), and neal worked on the teeth of chris connelly (old mtv vjay)'s son at UCLA.

Seeing Will Smith at the World Financial Center when they were shooting Hitch. I had my little interns find out when he was going to be there - I got his picture and shook his hand. Eva Mendes was there as well, but wasn't too friendly.

Following Arnold Schwartzenegger down a run at Sun Valley was fun too!

I was with you when we saw Bobby Flay! And don't forgot Haylie Duff - that's an important one.

Off the top of my head, I can add Richard Gere, Ben from Felicity, Tori Spelling, Ethan Hawke (on the subway!), Kim Cattrall, and Sarah Jessica Parker!

Oh, and I got Julia Roberts, Paul Rudd and Bradley Cooper's autographs after their play.

I might have to make my own post about this!

Apparently Pluto's is the place becuz I saw Chelsea Clinton there (during her Stanford days). Secret service all over the place- Bill was still el presidente.

Natalie Portman in central park. We could practically be body doubles- short and flat. Who knew she was a mini?

I grew up in SoCal, so my list is bit longer . . .

I went to High School with the guys from Eve 6, Steve Howey from Reba, Mario Lopez from Saved by the Bell, Soleil Moon Frye from Punky Brewster, Jonathan Brandis from SeaQuest, among others.

I worked at the 2002 Winter Olympics in SLC where I met Czech hockey phenom Jaromir Jagr and the entire gold winning Canadian Women's hockey team. Note: I don't even like hockey.

These are just a few that stick out and by no means represents the full list of stars I've sighted over the years. I just wanted to highlight a few of the cheesier ones :-P

There are definitely some fun star sightings at the resort where I work. Mathew MaConagey (I probably just butchered the spelling of his name) and Penelope Cruz came together when they were still a couple, he had the sweetest southern accent. When I delievered his margarita poolside he said "Thanks Darlin'". We had to chase paparazzi off the property when Heather Locklear came, she is sweet and really beautiful in person. My all time favorite though, had to be Michael Kors (all you other Project Runway fans have to agree) P.S. his boyfriend is definitely a model, and is probably my age! My mom would be so jealous Angie, she LOOOOOVES Jerry Rice.

I LOVE this question, as I keep my own running list. They don't beat your NYC sightings (Oh, what I'd give to run into Bobby Flay!), but some of my favorite CA ones include:
*Gwen Stafani at the Formosa Bar in LA
*Martin Sheen, Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman--all on the same airport tram with me & Vince in Las Vegas
*J Lo sat at a sidewalk table next to me and a friend at Haagen Daaz in Palo Alto (Wedding Planner era; yes, she was eating ice cream!)
*Tracy Chapman at Whole Foods in PA
*Alicia Silverman at the Hollywood Farmers Market

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes- went to the wedding, by the way Suri is a doll!

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie- met them on a flight to Cambodia.

and, of course, Oprah- my BFF
see her all the time...I wish. I'm just a star-sighting wanna-be.

But really, Ammon grew up with Paul Walker(close family friends) and Katherine Heigl lived in his Stake for awhile. That might be as close as I'll ever come. :(
