Resolution 2008

I do not make resolutions; therefore, I do not fail at resolutions. Its that simple - don't make 'em, you can't break 'em. Besides, everyone seems to resolve to eat less and exercise more -- how boring is that?! Pretty boring. Anyhow, we all know we should, so there's no reason to give it an austere title like: RESOLUTION.

But, about four months ago I thought of one. A real one. A good one. Something I really need to work on. But did I start working on it then, in my moment of epiphany? No! If I had done that, there would be no resolution for 2008. So, here it is, my Resolution for real...

I've got to work on my posture.

I will work on my posture.

But, I still don't know how. Apparently, the resolving isn't enough. I need a game plan. The only thing I can think of is to set my phone at various times throughout the day to check myself. Sigh. I'm afraid I'm already doomed.

No, I'll work on it. You'll see. I resolved, for Pete's sake!

Let's do this one together. I see myself in all the examples except for the correct one! Peter is always telling me to stand up straight. Good luck with this one and let me know if you find any fabulous tricks (and no, I will not attach a board to my back :)). Thanks for the great resolution idea!

Good call. I need to do this too. I have never noticed that you have bad posture. I think you are doing ok. Good luck.

My dad was always a stickler on posture. He'd slap our backs and say, "Stand tall. Be proud you are a Steward."
Whenever I see that Ammon needs a little help with his posture, I slap his back and say, "Stand tall! Be proud you married a Steward!" :)

I think I still suffer from poor posture-dang computer desk!

ty and i have this BAD! i've never noticed that you have bad posture, but this worked for us for about 10 minutes-maybe you can stick to it longer. you need to get someone on your side and periodically through the day, they run their finger lightly up the length of your back. it totally worked-but then we quit trying. good luck!

I am a chronic sway back dropped shoulder. I looked at some photos of me taken over Christmas and YIKES! I need to work on this one too.

looks like there are a lot of us out there that suffer from bad posture. I've heard that yoga is great for your posture. I think it's worth a try.

What a great - and unique - resolution! I just might try it too. You are such a fun writer, I love reading your blogs.

This is awesome.

It's the "keep lower abdomen flat" part of good posture I have a problem with. How am I supposed to keep my tummy flat when I ate my weight in butter cookies this holiday? :-)

I love this resolution and I especially love the graphic :)

I am doing the boring lose weight resolution... but since I have never really done it, it is new to me. I joined weight watcher with Kathy and so she and I will go to meeting together. Really I just want to be healthy and be able to ride bikes with my kids and not slow them down.
Happy New Year!

haha, so funny. i have a swayed back, like angie. i stick my hips forward and walk in a sort of gliding saunter. i think it's from when i used to dance. but i am inspired by your resolution and will try it, too! thanks for the idea:)

I used to have bad posture, and then the nurse in the 5th grade sent a letter home with me to give to my parents saying I needed to go to the doctor to be checked for scoliosis. I was freaked out by it, didn't give it to my mom, and corrected my posture immediately. Since having babies and a flabby core it is harder to stand up straight, so I need to take on the same resolution too.

Ang, I saw this story on Ten tips for improving posture and thought of your non-resolution. Hope it helps. Lynette's always getting on my case about my posture, too.
